Are you the producers yourselves? Yes, in Lievegem.

It’s a question we’re often asked over the phone. And it’s a fair question. Because anyone doing business with a middleman often gets a different story to someone who speaks directly to the manufacturer. So, yes, Hobon is a Belgian manufacturer of PE packaging film. Our production facility is in Lievegem, in the Ghent region. No reselling, no white labelling, no detour via Asia.

What does in-house production actually mean for you?

In-house production means three things that directly affect your packaging line.

One: you speak directly to the people who make your film. Do you have a question about the exact recycled material blend in your batch? Do you want to know why a roll is behaving differently to last week’s? We don’t need to pass the call on to a supplier. Our quality team is just fifteen metres from the extruder.

Two: technical adjustments are possible. Standard catalogue film is rarely sufficient. The right choice of film depends on your machine, your product, your line speed and your packaging environment. Because we manufacture in-house, we can adjust formulations, optimise film thicknesses and tailor additives to your specific process.

Three: traceability and audit assurance. Our production is BRC Packaging Level AA certified. Every batch is traceable back to the raw material. For audits in the food, pharmaceutical and hygiene sectors, this is not a luxury but a requirement.

What exactly do we produce?

Our product range in Lievegem includes LDPE and HDPE blown films, both monolayer and multilayer (three- and five-layer), with or without micro-perforation, UV protection, anti-static properties and corona treatment. Specifically, we supply, amongst other things, vending machine film, FFS film, shrink film, shrink sleeves, dolly bags, patin rolls and stretch film. For applications in the food, industrial, textile and logistics sectors.

Why this is relevant to you

The right film prevents problems. The wrong film costs you more than you think: line breaks, downtime, audit issues and customer complaints. Those who deal with a middleman rarely receive technical advice before purchasing. Those who deal directly with the manufacturer do.

Are you unsure whether your current film is the right choice for your production line? Discuss your packaging requirements with us. We’ll provide technical input before you place your order.
